Reece Pottorff is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker from the island of Maui. A lifelong lover of storytelling, Reece began his filmmaking journey as a child, spending hours creating films alone in his backyard. Over time, that passion evolved into video work for local businesses and several creative collaborations featuring U.S. Poet Laureate W.S. Merwin. That same drive led him to be accepted into the CalArts film program, where he further developed his skills in cinematography, sound design, and narrative craft.
His work has since led him to collaborate with Skydance, NFL Films, HBO, SZA, Childish Gambino, Gordon Ramsay and others. During the Maui fire disaster (2023), he worked with ABC News to document the unfolding story daily in real time. Reece continues to work on film productions across the Hawaiian Islands while also exploring creative projects using the latest generative AI technology.
